Indira Awas Yojana run by the Government of India was changed to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the year 2015 and the financial assistance amount under this scheme was increased to 1,20,000. Under Indira Awas Yojana, the government used to pay 80000 rupees for housing construction, which has been increased to 1,20,000 under the PM Awas Yojana.

- Under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, native citizens of India can submit the application form.
- Under the Rural Housing Scheme, only the application form of the beneficiary families of the rural areas will be submitted.
- Any family living below the poverty line can submit an application under this scheme.
- The family submitting the application form must have BPL ration card.
- The applicant should have land available for housing construction.
- The applicant family should not have availed benefit of any other housing scheme.

Offline application form can be submitted under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana. You can submit the application form under this scheme by visiting your Gram Panchayat and Janpad Panchayat office:
- First of all you have to go to your Gram Panchayat or Janata Panchayat office.
- Here you have to get the application form of PM Rural Housing Scheme from the concerned officer.
- Now all the necessary information asked in this application form has to be filled.
- The necessary documents required for the scheme have to be attached with the application form.
- The application form has to be submitted to the concerned officer.
- In this way you can submit your application form under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana.
After the application form is submitted, the Gram Panchayat and Janpad Panchayat office will check the submitted application form. If all the information is found to be correct and you follow the eligibility criteria prescribed in the scheme, your name will be included in the list of Awas Yojana and you will also be paid financial assistance of Rs 120000 for the construction of your house.
