Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2024: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was launched to provide housing to poor and middle class families in the country. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was initially known as Indira Awas Yojana, but later the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi changed its name to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in 2016.

Types of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Grameen (PMAY-G) to build houses for poor and middle class families in rural areas. On the other hand, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) was launched to build houses for poor and middle class people in urban areas.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has three phases in which the first phase started in April 2015 and ended in March 2017. The second phase ran from April 2017 to March 2019. On the other hand, the third phase was completed from April 2019 to March 2022.

  • The Central Government has provided a maximum of Rs. 2,35,000 will be given.
  • At the same time, the central government will provide financial assistance ranging from Rs 1,20,000 to Rs 1,30,000 for building houses to poor and middle class families in rural areas.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Eligibility Criteria

To apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, applicants must have certain qualifications, these are the qualifications

  • Applicant must be a citizen of India. Applicant must be landless or homeless.
  • Families who have a mud house with one or two rooms can apply for this scheme.
  • No member of the applicant’s family should own a permanent house. The applicant’s family should not belong to any other housing scheme established by the Government of India.
  • Annual family income irrespective of class is Rs. 3,00,000 to Rs. 6,00,000 should be between.
  • Applicant’s name should be in the ration card or BPL list.
  • Applicant family should not have any educated male member above 25 years of age.
  • Families who have no member in the age group of 15 to 59 years can also apply for this scheme.
  • No member of the applicant’s family should be inducted into Government service.
  • People belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Minority Communities can apply for this scheme and get the benefits of the scheme.
