Joey Chestnut will not be allowed to compete in this year’s Hot Dog Eating Contest due to a new sponsorship.

Chestnut has won 16 Fourth of July contests and 76 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes in 2021.

The Hot Dog Eating Competition is run by Major League Eating and sponsored by Nathan’s – a famous Wiener brand.

That makes it impossible for him to participate in Nathan’s contest now, unless something changes.

Chestnut said he was ‘gutted’ by the news that he would not be allowed to defend his title.
