Carjacking suspect leaves victim’s baby on the side of the road

Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit detectives have arrested a suspect who carjacked a woman and drove away with her child in the back seat.

According to the BSO, an anonymous tip led to the identification of the suspect as 35-year-old Willio Patioma.

Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a stolen vehicle in Oakland Park, officials said. Florida Wednesday, June 26 after 8:28 am.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s mother and her three-year-old daughter were involved in a car accident with another vehicle. When the mother got out of her car to exchange information with the other driver, the suspect entered the driver’s side of her vehicle and began pushing her child inside.

Investigators said the mother grabbed the front passenger door of her vehicle and yelled at the subject that her child was inside the car. The mother was dragged before falling to the ground as the subject moved away.

Surveillance video was obtained that showed the suspect exiting the vehicle with the child in the car seat and leaving him on the sidewalk. Another moment captures the man leaving the vehicle. The final video captures the man using the victim’s credit card at a Family Dollar store.

Patioma was taken into custody on Sunday, June 30. He faces charges including kidnapping, carjacking, interfering with the custody of a minor and illegal use of a credit card. He was also arrested on Palm Beach County warrants for possession of cocaine and resisting an officer.
