Today, while addressing the 18th Lok Sabha, President Draupadi Murmu gave a good news to the elderly who have crossed the age of 70. She said that now the elderly who are above 70 years of age will also be provided free medical facilities under the Ayushman Yojana. As you must be knowing, the Bharatiya Janata Party had promised this in its manifesto during the Lok Sabha elections. Now, fulfilling this promise, the government has announced this.
What is Ayushman Bharat Yojana
Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, the central government provides free treatment of Rs 5 lakh per year. Through this card, you can get treatment for serious and critical illnesses in any private listed hospital. Now the central government has announced that elderly people above the age of 70 years will also be brought under this scheme.
Bharatiya Janata Party said in its manifesto that “We will expand Ayushman Bharat scheme to cover the elderly and provide them free and good quality healthcare facilities”
Eligibility to avail the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Yojana
- Any citizen who is a native of India can avail the benefit of the scheme.
- Economically poor and middle class families are being included under Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
- As per the recent announcement, senior citizens above the age of 70 years will also be given benefits under Ayushman Bharat scheme.
- The families included in the list of Socio Economic Census 2011 are being given the benefit of Interest Related Indian Scheme.

How to apply for Ayushman Card online?
- First of all go to the official website of Ayushman Bharat Yojana https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in/.
- Select the Beneficiary option on the home page and login to the portal by entering your mobile number.
- Now on the home page you have to select the name of your state, name of district etc.
- Now you have to search your name through your name or through your Aadhar card.
- After the name is searched, you have to complete the Ayushman Card KYC.
- After completing Ayushman Card KYC, you can download Ayushman Card.
- After that you can get free treatment in any private hospital.
